Both the serger and sewing machine have been set up in the living room now. Unfortunately I can't find one of my BIG spools of black Gutermann thread so I'm alternating one of the serger spools in and out of the sewing machine as needed.

I started making the obi for Yuko's kimono. The Mirella satin that I bought was inexpensive, but it's also too lightweight to hold up its own weight - so I went scrounging around the basement to see if I had any interfacing. I don't; since I only buy that on a per-project basis, so I will eventually have to pick some up. However, instead I found a hideous pink fabric that is extrememly sturdy and have incorporated it as well. Hopefully I'll have all the pieces of the obi completed tonight so I can start painting it.
I may leave the actual kimono for the Sunday, when I have some time to draft out a pattern whilst there is daylight - but who knows... I might be so enthusiastic about this that I start it sooner. The important thing is that I've started :)
Tiff has a summer kimono or something for Girls Festival - she bought it for $10 at the JCCC. I'll have a look at how that one is put together ;)
