Wicked.

Earlier in the year I read Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister by Gregory Maguire and enjoyed it. It's the story of Cinderella, retold through the eyes of one of the sisters and it puts a very interesting spin in the fairy tale that has been so Disney-fied. Last week I bought Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West for some pleasure reading. It was a very good read, especially since I'm such an Oz fan. I almost feel sorry for that wicked old witch at the end of it all ^_~ I can see why this novel did so well, and I'm curious to check out the musical when it comes to Toronto this spring. I think I can pin my shoe obsession down to the Cinderella and Wizard of Oz stories. Ever since I was young I've had this fascination with the Glass Slippers, Ruby Slippers (from the MGM movie) and the Silver Shoes. Hehehe, magical footwear... ^__^"
