Why must everything turn into a drama????
Wow. I just wasted some undeserved time reading through a ton of rants, personal attacks and BS from cosplayers all over. Everyone who knows already knows, and if you don't - don't ask me because I'm not involved. It's quite sad to see the community go at each other like this, especially since we are a very small niche and our circles are VERY small and we will all unavoidably meet up somwhere. The personal attacks are uncalled for and cowardly, IMO. If you have a bone to pick with someone, say it to their face. Posting it on your livejournal (or as a comment on someone else's LJ) for other people to "stumble" onto isn't going to solve anything and just makes you look like ass when other people who don't know you read it.
To condense things down, I still feel the same way towards costuming as a hobby, but I have formed some new opinions about a few people that I used to respect.
On the flip side, a bunch of the Toronto singers that are auditioning for the FCO are meeting up tomorrow afternoon to run through some stuff together. I'm looking forward to it since we haven't been together as a group since last September. There is a bitter-sweetness to the rehearsal because not all of us can make it into the program again this summer. The fact that they cut their numbers in half this year makes for more competition, but I think it's awesome that we are able to still come together to make music.
Like, really.
Honestly though, if you are good with money, I know people have come back with SURPLUS money because they arrange their own flights with the money from the organization and are smart with their per diems.
