Costumes at DX, Sin City and Yucky Ravioli

Today was very eventful for a manic Monday. Kevin and I went to the costume exhibit at the Design Exchange and it was fabulous. There were so many costumes from many recent films representing many genres and it was great to be able to get so close to them and study their construction. I was naughty and snuck a few photos with Kevin’s digicam (no flash, hehe).

All of the costumes are great and it is probably as close to a movie star as I’ll ever be. They had the samurai armour that Tom Cruise wore in the Last Samurai, the dress that Catherine Zeta-Jones wears in the tango scene in The Mask of Zorro (damn her waist is tiny!), Neo's jacket from Matrix Revolutions, Professor Dumbledore’s costume from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and the costume that Johnny Depp wore in Pirates of the Caribbean. Definitely worth seeing if you love costumes!

(Tiff, the had the dress that Elphaba wears in the original broadway production of Wicked. It's really cool looking!!)

After oogling the costumes, we went to the Paramount to see Sin City. Kevin nearly KILLED me with the amount of white cheddar stuff he put in the popcorn!! I enjoyed it for what it was. I won't critique it since I haven't read Frank Miller's graphic novels nor do I know much about noir style but the overall effect of the movie was tasteful and darkly beautiful.

We grabbed a quick dinner at Alice Fazooli's and we're never going there again. The ravioli tasted rancid and I've decided I don't like Stella Artois.

While I was walking home from the bus stop a couple of guys in a pickup truck started cruising next to me while I was walking and yelling pickup lines. I ignored them and they went away. Bleh.
