Concert, tiramisu and pottery
On Thursday night we had our first concert. The orchestra performed a few of the Brandenburg concertos and the choir sang a few motets. There are mp3 files if anyone wants to listen at festivalensemble.org. I have never listened to complete movements of the Brandenburgs before. I usually catch bits and pieces and then drift away somewhere, but since I had to sit and listen it was an amazing experience. The instrumentation is perfect and the counterpoint is so intricate. I am in love with the viola de gamba.. hehe
Yesterday morning the choir had a few hours off so I went into Überlingen with Michael Adair and Phil and we had lunch at that fabulous Italian café again. I had an amazing pizza, a mocha and tiramisu for dessert again. I swear it is the most delicious tiramisu I have ever had!
Then Michael and I killed time by heading down to the lakefront but it turns out there was a Töpfermarkt happening - I think that means a pottery fair because that was what it looked like. There were all types of ceramic art, pottery and jewellery. Michael bought a stone ring, and I was amused by some lawn ornaments that look like the puffy birds in For the Birds.
In the afternoon we had a full run-through of the B Minor Mass and it was awesome. The soloists are mneh, but the choir and orchestra sounded phenomenal.
Dinner last night was basically hash browns (rösti) and applesauce. I was not exactly thrilled, so afterwards Brynne, JP, Vlad and I went to the pizzeria at the end of the drive to get something decent LOL We split a pizza and shared a few laughs. It was good times.
Today is the last day in Überlingen. We had a dress rehearsal for the B Minor Mass in 'the barn' earlier this afternoon and I have a few moments before I have to get dressed and ready to head out. I can't wait for the party tonight! Whoo!
Kevin, I didn't remember if you booked yesterday off at work so I called your store and after no one was picking up at the lab so I was muttering profanities to myself... Just then Clarence picked up and was like "Excuse me?" Hehehehe... Obviously you weren't there.
Have fun all you ppl going to CNA!! Upload pics ASAP! I want to seeeeeee....!!!
