The Weaving Maiden

The sky this past weekend was so gorgeous. Every night I came home and saw Orion, Ursa Major and Casseiopia in the sky and it made me feel so happy. But of course tonight it was raining and just gross.

We had our first Tafel rehearsal of the year, for another Soundstreams production (blech!). This time we are performing a commissioned work by Chan Ka Nin, based on the Chinese myth of "Valentine's Day" (7th day of the 7th month in the lunar year). I vaguely remember bits of it from when I was young. It's the day that the Milky Way is the clearest in the sky, with 2 stars (Vega and another...) on each side shining very clearly. The music (so far) is actually very musical and has potential - which is a very difficult thing for me to admit whenever Soundstreams is involved.

Tonight I was coaching the choir on how to pronounce some numbers in Mandarin. Being that I'm not a native Mandarin speaker, I can only hope I was helpful.

Anyhow, I think CBC will pick this gig up, so yay! Another ACTRA credit for me!
