Orfeo, shopping and Mokona plushies

I was just talking to Dawn on MSN and realized that I haven't blogged in *gasp* 10 days. I've been pretty busy running around town for the Opera Atelier rehearsals, working and trying to keep sane (by shopping HAHA!)

I've done some good damage this week. Smart Set at the Eaton Centre was having a grand re-opening 15% off everything in the store sale, so I picked up 5 tops, a pretty skirt, and a pair of earrings. Then, to match one of the tops bought (and the earrings) I bought a lovely pair of Kenneth Cole sandals. On Monday Kevin met me after the rehearsal and we walked over to Chinatown and went to Kikiwai where I bought another big Gloomy Bear - this time a grey one. Then we went up to Sushi Time on Bloor and had a nice dinner.

On Tuesday I remembered a cute pair of shoes I'd seen while running around with Kevin so I stopped into Town Shoes and checked them out. They are a gorgeous pair of black satin Steve Madden espadrilles. The cincher was that they have a closed toe so I can wear them to work!

I wore my new epsadrilles to work on Wednesday, with a cute a-line skirt and my favorite t-shirt and what happened? Since our stock guy was really sick and had been away for a couple days, someone had to help with the backlog in the stockroom. That someone was me @__@" I had a miserable time climbing around on ladders with my neck and shoulders strained while changing price-tickets and receiving merchandise, as well has helping out on the sales floor because the assistant manager was really sick and went home early. Add to that we knew that people from head office would be stopping in to visit us the next day so everything had to look immaculate as well. Gaugh! During lunch I went to the post office in the mall to pick up a parcel because the stupid mailman didn't ring the doorbell and left a card instead. After work I was nearly late for the Orfeo rehearsal but I made it by skipping dinner and picking up a soup and bagel at Timmy's during the "intermission" break.

Yesterday was a bit less exhausting. My assistant manager noticed I wasn't in the best mood and put me in the lingerie store, which I didn't mind at all since it it quieter and more 1-on-1 with me and customers. I had a good sales day but by the time Kevin came to meet me at 5pm so we could head down to the dress rehearsal together I was grumpy and tired. We got downtown early so we went to Sephora to check out the new B. Kamin's skincare line for men. He picked up a couple of samples and hopefully will like something. Then I went to the theatre to get ready for the rehearsal and he went to pick up his ticket.

If you've never been to an opera dress rehearsal, it's not REALLY a rehearsal. It's fully staged and there is a ticketed audience of school groups, administrative staff and friends but there are also photographers and press invited. In our case it's usually the first full run-through from top to bottom without stopping, and the last chance to fix things before opening night (on Saturday) when the real "paying" audence come.

There are a lot of choruses in the first half, but then after intermission the women aren't needed for Acts III and IV, and we only since the final chorus of Act V so I had a nice hour long nap in the lounge underneath the stage.

The show wrapped up around 10, so Kevin and I went down to Marché to get some dinner. I just had soup and fresh orange juice cuz my stomach felt funky. [Note to self: Their chicken noodle soup is gross. Avoid at all costs next time] Kevin took me home to make sure I didn't collapse since I was feeling terrible and I came home and crashed.

I didn't wake up until about 3pm this afternoon. Call me a lazy sloth of you want but my body just need a chance to rest. I finally had time to open the parcel that I picked up at the post office - it was the pair of Mokona plushies from xxxHolic that I won on eBay. Tonight I plan to work on my Yûko peacock dress so that I can hopefully do a photoshoot of it on Sunday.
