Throwing away the past

Within the 4 walls of my bedroom I have saved years of memories - pieces of paper, knick-knacks, toys. Many beautiful things that are irreplacable because of the intense emotional attachment I have to them. On the wall beside my bed is a huge hand-painted wall-hanging of Lucy hugging Snoopy - it was one of many little vignettes that decorated the gym of my elementary school when we put on the production of You're a Good Many Charlie Brown and I was Lucy.

The first bouquet of roses Kevin ever brought me I dried and have in my room still (Laura - remember that phone call?!) The flowers are yellow and the leaves have faded, but they are still beautiful to me.

I realize that moving out will be a huge step and I know that I'm ready to move forward with my life. Obviously part of the process will be sorting through my stuff, trashing a lot of junk and packing up the stuff I'm keeping. There will be some painful choices to make though.

Sadly, Lucy & Snoopy and the roses will have to be left behind.
