A birthday party for two

Yesterday we celebrated Brynne and Michael Carty's birthdays. It was a wet and rainy day, but nice and laid back since we didn't have any concerts to worry about.

I went into town in the afternoon with Audrey, Asuka and Agnieszka to run a small errand and I heard someone yell "Patrizia!" in the street while I was walking into town. I turned, and saw only parked cars and an empty street. "Patrizia!" and I looked up and there was Antonio hanging over the side of a balcony! LOL What a weird scene out of a movie. So I yelled up at him that I'd be by the restaurant later on.

After finding some things at the drugerie and apothecary we popped into the Café Piccolo for hot chocolate and I dropped off balloons and candles for our party in the evening, with advanced warning that a large group would be coming.

We had a great turnout! Besides the birthday pair and myself, Christine, Misel, Ben, Skip, Marielle, Dane, Keith, Shawn, Audrey, Ulrich, Ricky and Erica were there, and Nigel the oboe tutor and Thomas the voice coach came as well. The food was fabulous and there was enough tiramisu for everyone! Antonio had set aside a little nook for us and decorated it with the balloons. It was such a wonderful evening.

We had our first concert on Sunday at the Reichenau Münster Mittelzell, a gorgeous old cathedral not too far from where we are staying. The acoustic was to die for and we did a wonderful Requiem concert. I'm looking forward to tonight's Mass in C concert - and of course the party that will follow!!

After this I leave for the tour leg of this trip so I won't be around, but I'll hopefully pick up some more pretty postcards and have the lot mailed out when I settle in Stuttgart in about 5 days.
