Our first concert
We had our first performance last night - not of any of the yummy Mozart repertoire, but the mixed a capella and orchestra stuff. I wasn't exactly enthusiastic about it since I think the repertoire is a pile of Käse, but oh well.
Brynne and I went into town for lunch in the afternoon at a café by the lakefront. The place was so busy we had to sit inside, but it was still nice. I've never seen it so bustling in Überlingen. There was a farmer's market and a pottery festival (the same one they have every year around this time) and Brynne bought an ocarina for her mom. Hehe, there's something amusing about those things seeing as I bought one 2 years ago for Tiff. It was a lovely day.
Maybe I've been spoiled working in a professional setting with Tafel, but I really feel like sometimes we are treated like a high-school choir. There was a rehearsal where Kathy had us count-sing and sing scales and I found myself thinking "WTF? Where the hell am I??" I think that considering the amazing calibre of the orchestra members here, the choir is definitely capable of much better things.
Anyhow, I'm off to a rehearsal now and this afternoon we have a concert of the Mozart Requiem. It should be fantastic!
