Mozart-ing again

Dr. Rao invited me to sing with the MacMillan/Bach Festival Singers/ Elmer Iseler Singers group for the Mozart Mass in C happening this week at Roy Thompson Hall under the direction of Helmuth Rilling. I'm there for the music and for Rilling, nothing else really matters. I did have some doubts about the entire thing - some which are still hanging in the air. Of course the TSO is great, and the soloists are superb which is all I can expect. It's a treat to hear James Taylor in person, since the last time he was supposed to sing with us he fell ill and Michael Schade sang in his stead (also a treat). Simona is absolutely divine and I really enjoy listening to her. If I focus on only her and Helmuth it almost feels like I'm back in Germany. Music is wonderful that way, it can transport me to a completely different space, place and time.

And of course it's fantastic that Phil is the baritone soloist. It's not the most amazing part (it's one of the most boring baritone bits out there...) but he's here and I get to hear him and it's all wonderful. Tonight we went out to dinner with his friends Frank and Brittany at the Lone Star Grill down on Front St.

Doreen has given the ladies pretty much free reign with the dress code so I'm going to take advantage of it and wear some of my gorgeous gowns that I can't wear in the normal Tafelmusik season. Huzzah!
