Blonde Bond
Kevin and I went downtown this afternoon and bought tickets for Casino Royale as a backup plan, and then went over to the Canon Theatre to line up for the lottery tickets for Wicked. We ran into a couple of friends of his, who's names elude me now. We didn't win tickets, so off we ran back to the Paramount to watch the movie.
Without spoiling too much, there was no plotline to the film, just a lot of action, cars and fighting sequences. Where Pierce Brosnan's Bond was a more gadget-using, smooth-talking and elegant Bond, Daniel Craig's Bond is more brute force and impulsive. The thing that I though was strange about this film is that it's supposed to be going backwards to look at the roots of the Bond character, and even the opening scenes give that impression. Why then does M talk about 9/11 and in one scene you very obviously see the date "July 17, 2006." If this film was meant to be for the 007 franchise what Batman Begins was for the Batman franchise the timeline doesn't make any sense.
Anyways, Cineplex has done away with those nice holiday gift certificate packages now and they just have giftcards, but if you buy any combo you get a $10 off coupon for a $50 purchase at Indigo/Chapters. I miss the $10 off coupons for the Bay ;) I used mine last year at the MAC counter and got no arguements. Darn.
