Craft show overload

Last Friday Kevin and I went to the One-of-a-Kind show together to just have a quiet day together and actually celebrate my birthday since I was working all day on Wednesday. A lot of the vendors that were there last year were back again this year so I was able to pick up a few things that I fell in love with last year. (Jordan, have you tried the stuff from the Sweet Truths Candy Company? *drool*!) Last year I bought Tiff a 'Marla the Ghost' t-shirt from the girls at Fixeight, and this year I bought an 'Evil Stray Cat' one for myself. We went out for teppanyaki at Tako Sushi near our house. It's a couple block or so north of Memories of Japan on Don Mills, and it is INFINITELY BETTER!! (Actually, any place is better than MoJ nowadays. I don't know why it is still so popular.) The portions were very generous, and instead of the usual salmon and kappa maki that most places give you as appetizers, they gave us salmon maki and california rolls. It was a nice dinner and the chef put on a good show.

On Saturday I went to the Signatures craft show down at the MTCC. I haven't been to that show in years - the last time I went they were still having free admission. The traffic was pathetic compared to the One-of-a-Kind show and it was a lot smaller but there were some nice things to look at. The Orange Crate food booth was there (as it has been FOREVER!) so I picked up some cooking stuff for us.

The trouble with going to craft shows and seeing all these pretty things is that I come home thinking "I can do that!" and then I get in a nutty beading mood. I've started making a gorgeous new necklace that hopefully I'll finish in the next couple of days when I get some free time. I was working on it before rehearsal and during our break this evening and I was getting a lot of spectators :)

I've been planning on hacking at my hair for the past 3 weeks now since it's gotten so long and gross. I've noticed that when I use Pantene shampoo or anything other than my Aveda Rosemary Mint stuff I will wake up in the middle of the night to find the cat sitting next to my head, chewing on my hair!! (I guess he doesn't like the minty stuff - hehe). As a result, there's a lot of damaged bits in my hair so I went to see Dany this afternoon and she did her magic again. I now have fantastic looking hair ^__^" I'm going to have to sleep with the blanket over my head from now on to keep the cat off of my hair!

On my subway ride home, an elderly lady sat down across from me and took out a pen and a piece of scrap paper. She had it in her lap, on top of her tote bag and it looked like she was just making notes or something. I was listening to my iPod and completely spaced out and oblivious. As I was about to get off at my stop, I glanced over and realized she had been sketching me - and it was fairly good too! It surprised me.

My problem is that I think "I can do that!" but then I have so many projects I never get around to it. :P

I love fixeight; I used to work with Kelly at 1-800-MASCOTS back when she was just starting up.

You can either order $10 tickets online or print off a $2 off coupon for at ths show (regular admission is $12 for adults).

I've never been to one of the spring shows. I went to the Christmas one last year because our choir was invited to sing there and I ended up with a free pass ;)
