Impulse buying

This morning I went for more professional training at head office, so now I can make a bit more sense of things when I read pathology, cytology and other reports that will be passing through my hands. I had to head back to the office afterwards and it was a headache because it seemed that every electronic machine that I laid my hands on would cease to function. It was one of those days.

Got emails from Andrejus and Antonio which made me feel warm and happy. I miss all the conversations we had.

Had a rehearsal for Messiah tonight. It's one of those things that no matter how many times I perform it, it is still always fun. But since our next set of concerts is of Purcell's Fairy Queen I won't see it for a while. The Purcell piece is lovely except that doing it at A=392 is driving me CRAZY!!!

I didn't do much for Hallowe'en. I dressed up as "Dark Dorothy" to work, pretty much so I could get a chance to wear my Ruby Slippers. It's a good thing too, they need some minor repairs before I wear them again at the Sing-a-long Messiah.

On Sunday I made it a mission to go and get myself a pair of proper boots for winter. My criteria were pretty straightforward:
  • brown leather or pleather
  • NOT suede
  • no fur accents
  • at least a 1cm rubber sole so that walking on salted sidewalks won't hurt my feet
  • preferrably mid-calf or to the knee
  • heel height totally negotiable
  • not ugly
I went into EVERY shoe store in the Eaton Centre and had very little luck. The one pair that met every criteria I found at Payless (of all places...) but they didn't zip up. Damn my fat shins. So I settled for a pair of boots from Geox, which in hindsight I think I bought purely out of frustration. They are camel-coloured suede, flat rubber soles, ankle length with fur trims, comfy ... and ugly. Why did I buy them? I don't know but I'm taking them back... The cat seems to think I brought home 2 new friends for him. -__-"
