Singet ein neues Lied

I haven't made a blog post in almost a month. Wow.

The holidays were nice and quiet. I think that's the first time I can ever say that. I went home for a Christmas dinner, but ditched the ones I usually ditch - not cuz I don't want to see my family or anything but just cuz I can only bear so much sitting around doing nothing, eating the same food and sketchy desserts.

For Christmas Day Kevin was working so I met him after his shift and we went down to Marché to have one of our "a little bit of everything" dinners. Honestly, it's not the same there as it was 3-4 years ago. I think I need to find a new haunt because I don't want to go back there again. It's little things that I noticed have changed that are disappointing. I didn't want any of their cakes so for dessert I decided to do something usual and have street-style Belgian waffle instead.

A couple Friday's ago we went out to see Pan's Labyrinth. I was curious since the reviews for it were excellent and a few good friends had said they were looking forward to it. Of course the only place it was playing 2 weeks ago was down at the Varsity. T__T" What a shoebox of a theatre! I had never watched anything there before and I hope to never have to go back there. The movie was ... provoking. And that's all I want to say about it. I never want to see it again. I had a physical reaction to that movie (which has never happened before!) and it left me with hypersensitivity and migraines for the better part of a week. I could barely function - it was ridiculous. But enough about that....

Last week I had a random craving for Strawberry Shortcake. On our way down to One Million Comix we stopped at the Just Desserts right on Yonge St to check out if they had anything that looked good. (And btw, for anyone that cares, the Sen5es bakery at Bayview Village is gone now) We ended up sharing a slice each of yummy strawberry shortcake and strawberry cheesecake. Mmm... yummy dessert. I haven't had anything that sumptuous since Antonio's tiramisu. *drool*

Tafel started up again today and we started looking at the rep for the concert set in February. There's lots of gorgeously fun Bach stuff - like Singet dem Herrn, but I can't figure out how it all ties together. It's going to be one of those "multimedia" productions that I like but it's called "Chariots of Fire" @__@" I duuno . . . It's confusing singing Choir I since I lived in the Choir II part when I did it in Germany, but it's good for the brain. Singing Bach makes me happy.

Hey Patty,

I saw Pan's Labyrinth that day I was going to. I thought it was really good and was puzzled as to why you had such a reaction.

It is gory, but there isn't really that much blood, and the suspense throughout the movie is fairly high, but no more then your average horror flick (not that it is one, but I needed something to compare to).

Cin & I liked it, LOL, we debated for an hour over the ending.

I'm just as puzzled too. I've seen horror flicks worse than Pan (I'm a huge fan of the Hannibal Lector films... and I hear there's a 4th coming out!).

Either way, it provoked something in me. Never want to deal with hypersensitivity or migraines like that again -__-'
