I got the job!

After a few mysterious references to the new job I have been applying for, I can now share it since I got hired! I was offered a position as a Flight Attendant with Air Canada and I start training next week!

I had to go through 2 one-on-one interviews, language proficiency testing, a personality test, a group activity and a medical screening. My medical was yesterday and I got the phone call this afternoon. I'm so excited!

This does put a wrench in some of my plans. After the concert run this week I have time off with Tafelmusik until the end of March, but this may make the opera impossible for me. In all likelihood my convention season is up in the air too (no pun intended =P ) Ad Astra looks unlikely and Anime North my not be happening for me either.

WOW! That's so exciting! I thought about applying for that type of thing myself, but it's just not quite right. I've heard airline screenings for attendants are quite rigorous. Thanks for sharing a little about what you went through. International flights? Domestic? Do you know yet?

The screening was very intensive and there's a lot of waiting around. I don't know what I'll be doing but since I speak Cantonese and Mandarin there's a good chance I'll be put on flights to Asia.

If you're interested there's another "cattle call" for Air Canada in early March. The details are at http://www.aircanada.com/en/about/career/frame/attendants.html (click on the "Toronto YYZ" link and the meet & greet dates are on the bottom. Let me know if you're interested and I can give you a few pointers :)

AHH!! Wow that's so cool. You get discount flights, right? Maybe I can get you to go to Russia with me instead of Alex's friend, because frankly he scares me a little. More than a little. Haha I like how I immediately think of how this would benefit me. I am such a little dye-va.

Hehe, I wouldn't mind. I don't know when my flight privileges start but I'll let you know. Russia would be awesome and you could do all the communicating ^_^"

Happy Valentine's Day Wifey-poo!

Congrats! My sister is a flight attendant for Continental, and it sounds like you'll be spending your first year or so going wherever they tell you, when they tell you. On the plus side, it's a sweetass job. Let me know if you make it to Minneapolis.
