Another weekly update
I can barely remember how this week started. They days are so long and there's so much to do that the past 2 weeks have felt like 2 months. I've gotten used to the routine now and the nights we get home before 11pm feel like a real treat! This week I learned about First Aid (and it's a bit different than the standard EMS stuff that I was taught), my first aircraft and how to operate it's door, and water evacuations.
On Friday we doubled up with another class to learn about the slide-rafts and survival stuff. Since I will probably never seen one while on duty my lifetime (and I sincerely hope I don't!!) it was an interesting experience. There were only 42 of us on the raft and it was so crowded - it's difficult to imagine it pack to full overload capacity at 80+.
I've been fighting a cold since Thursday. ColdFX is helping, but it's still distracting to be blowing my nose ever 5 minutes and it's hard to think when I'm so congested. I feel a bit better now after getting some much needed sleep.
The highlight of the weekend was going to Yorkdale with Kim and her bf Trevor and buying shoes. We ran into one of our classmates who was also on the same mission! I found a really cute pair of wedges at Naturalizer and was expecting them to cost $150 or so and was shocked when the lady rang them up and they were $30!!
I'm a bit bummed about missing Ad Astra - I hope those of you who went had a good time! The weather turned out to be decent for you :)
